BEFORE WE GET STARTED…

Thank you for considering The Alaska Palliative Massage Initiative. Before any in-person sessions are scheduled, we begin with a required virtual video intake. This allows us to get to know you (and your loved one, if applicable), understand your needs, and ensure that our care is safe, appropriate, and deeply supportive.

During this video call, we’ll cover:

Medical History
We’ll review relevant medical conditions, medications, diagnoses, and current treatments that may influence the massage experience. This helps us tailor care with safety, comfort, and dignity at the forefront.

Goals for Care
We’ll talk about what you’re hoping for, whether that’s pain relief, emotional comfort, improved rest, nervous system support, or simply a calming, human presence.

Place of Treatment
We’ll discuss where future sessions would take place (such as the home, assisted living facility, or other care setting) and ensure the environment can comfortably support touch-based care.

Logistics & Accessibility
We’ll go over practical details such as session length, scheduling, and any equipment involved (hospital bed, recliner, wheelchair, etc.), as well as how to prepare for a massage when the time comes.

Questions & Concerns
This is a spacious, supportive time for you to ask questions, share concerns, or name anything that feels important. We move at your pace and center what matters most to you.

The virtual intake typically lasts 15–20 minutes so we ask that you book a time that will allow at least 30 minutes of uninterrupted time. This is a meaningful first step in building trust, clarity, and compassionate care. After this intake is complete, in-person sessions can be scheduled.

We look forward to meeting you and walking alongside you with presence, skill, and care.
